RURAL YOUTH

EMPOWERMENT AND EMANCIPATION OF THE MARGINALISED RURAL YOUTH

The province of Tiruchy has launched its mission with the motto Vilimbuhal Maiyamaha (to bring the marginalized to the centre). Keeping to its motto, the Province has taken enormous steps to move into rural areas mainly concentrating on the youth in the fringes of the  society.                

Types of Intervention

We have begun Industrial Training Centres, Non Formal Vocational Training Centres to reach out to the youth of the villages. Around 300 youth are trained every year with technical skills to earn a sustainable livelihood.
Regular EDP and short term skill trainings are given
Job Placement is one of our major activities in the rural areas.
Helps are provided through loan schemes to start small Income Generating Activity.
Awareness on Government schemes for development and self employment is given.
150 youth have been given Scholarships to pursue degree or diploma courses.
Two centres are organising coaching classes to help the youth who have discontinued their studies to write the XII standard exams.
About 2000 are helped to pursue their regular studies in the High Schools and HigherSecondary Schools.
A number of youth clubs are formed to create awareness on Human Rights.

The Need

We will concentrate on Agro based training and research to make the lands resourceful with tropical cash crops, fruit trees and other ways of improving the land.
Water Shed Management with check dams and studying the contours of the land with Civil Engineers.
Starting a study circle in two villages as a partnership program with the Government to train the youth to appear for SSC, TNPSC, UPSC exams.
Providing recreational facilities in 5 villages.
Skill Training in Motor Mechanics, Tractor Maintenance, JCB and Pock liner operations.
