On July 31, 2023, a meeting took place at Don Bosco Anbu Illam, Mulluvadi Gate, to address the issues faced by migrant workers in the cotton industry within Salem and Namakkal Districts. The primary objective of the gathering was to find solutions to connect these workers with relevant government Social Protection Schemes. Rev.Dr. Casimir Raj, the Director, presided over the meeting, while Fr. Bosco, the National level Migrant Coordinator of the DB forum, and Field level educators from Caritas India led the discussions. The participants shared about their working experience with migrants and various initiatives that they have taken to empower the migrants in their working areas. There was also good discussion on migrant issues in their source areas and destination areas. The discussion enriched each other with knowledge on creative and innovative ways of empowering migrants.
