On June 26, 2024, a large-scale campaign against substance abuse was conducted in Keeranur, marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event saw participation from 1400 school children, judges, police officers, Lions Club members, advocates, and the general public. The children formed an anti-drug slogan “SAY NO TO DRUGS” on the school grounds, raising awareness about the dangers of substance abuse.
Don Bosco Salesian Bulletin Feature
The Don Bosco Salesian Bulletin featured a cover story on substance abuse and the Salesian response, authored by Jananam. This was part of the broader efforts to address the growing substance abuse problem among school children. On June 29, Jananam addressed the headmasters and correspondents of the Coimbatore Diocese, emphasizing the urgency of tackling substance abuse.
Collaborative Initiatives by Jananam
Jananam worked alongside the DB CARES Department and psychological services of the province, implementing initiatives in Keela Eral and Varadarajanpet to address substance abuse.
Ilamai Youth Movement Engagement
At the province level, Jananam animated the general body members of the Ilamai Youth Movement in July at Keeranur. Additionally, he addressed Madurai zone Ilamai members, focusing on the critical issue of substance abuse among youth.
