Planning and Collaboration
Fr. Rajdevan SDB initiated the Admission Drive 2025 to improve outreach across the Tuticorin Diocese. A list of current students was reorganized by parish to help coordinate local visits. Student volunteers were selected from each parish to assist in identifying 12th standard students.
Parish Visits
Prior to visiting, parish priests were informed, and student volunteers helped prepare. The visits were conducted successfully despite rescheduling challenges, and valuable student data was collected for follow-up.
Village Outreach
To extend the reach, staff and volunteers visited nearby villages including Vaazhampatti, Ilampuvanam, and Bommaiyapuram. These efforts targeted students not directly connected with parishes but still within the region.
School Visits
After 12th exam results were announced, government schools in Vilathikulam and Perilovanpatti were visited as students collected their Transfer Certificates.
Spoken English Class
A Spoken English class was conducted in Thappathi Camp with 17 students participating. Although initially planned for more locations, student availability limited it to one site.
Suggestions and Feedback
- P. Ed Staff Needed: Students suggested that Physical Education staff would attract more admissions.
- Unfulfilled Rewards: Last year’s promised Rs. 500 reward per admission is yet to be received by students.
- Boost College Image: Negative feedback from senior students needs to be addressed; building a student-friendly environment is essential.
- Salesian Involvement: It’s recommended that Salesians celebrate Mass and interact with students before the admission drive.
- Improved Advertising: More banners and outreach in surrounding towns like Kovilpatti and Vilathikulam were proposed.
Conclusion
The Admission Drive 2025 was a meaningful and impactful initiative that helped connect with prospective students across parishes, villages, and schools. It laid the groundwork for improving admissions and strengthening relationships with the community.
