DON BOSCO THANJAVUR HOSTS EVER ROLLING FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT 2026
THANJAVUR, TAMIL NADU: In a vibrant celebration of youth, sportsmanship, and fraternity, Don Bosco Thanjavur—a Salesian institution dedicated to the holistic development of young people—successfully organized the prestigious Ever Rolling Football Tournament 2026 on 10 and 11 July 2026.
The mega two-day tournament brought together 12 school teams from the Thanjavur district and various Don Bosco institutions across the provinces of Trichy and Chennai. The event provided a highly competitive platform that successfully fostered discipline, teamwork, and a healthy sporting spirit among young footballers, beautifully reflecting the core Salesian mission of nurturing value-oriented citizens through sports.
THE INAUGURAL CEREMONY
The tournament commenced at 7:45 a.m. with a solemn prayer, marking the official opening of the event.
- Words of Welcome: The gathering was welcomed by Rev. Fr. Suresh Felix SDB, Rector and Correspondent of Don Bosco Thanjavur. He introduced the purpose of the tournament and powerfully emphasized the Salesian vision of educating young people through sports.
- The Official Opening: The Chief Guest for the occasion was Er. G. Arun Balaji, a distinguished past pupil of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Thanjavur, and the Architect of Gravity Design and Execution.
- Symbolic Gestures: As a beautiful gesture of unity and patriotism, the Chief Guest hoisted the National Flag, while Rev. Fr. Suresh Felix SDB hoisted the School Flag, officially declaring the tournament open. Fr. Albert sdb, was the manager of the tournament, Fr Emmanuvel sdb and Fr Ashly Coordinated the event along with our school teachers namely, Jesuraj, Kalaiselvan, Ramesh, Edwin Louis, , Stephen, Joseph. Â
COMPETITIVE SPIRIT ON THE FIELD
The two days witnessed remarkable enthusiasm and an exceptionally high standard of football:
- The Fixtures: The first day featured 12 exciting league matches, while the second day witnessed five crucial knockout fixtures, culminating in a thrilling final match.
- Fraternal Bounds: Beyond the boundaries of competition, every match reflected deep determination, skill, and discipline. The tournament served as an excellent opportunity for students from different schools to build lasting friendships.
- Professional Officiating: The matches were efficiently officiated by Master Charlie and his dedicated team of referees, whose professionalism ensured fair play throughout the tournament.
GRAND FINALE & PRIZE DISTRIBUTION
The tournament concluded on a high note with an impressive prize distribution ceremony. The organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to a distinguished panel of guests and generous sponsors namely, Mr. Bala Tamilselvan, Dr. Siva Sakthivel, Mr. Arsath Ahmed, Mr. G. Karthik, Mr. Amulraj, Mrs. S. B. Maheswari whose support in providing trophies, food, and other essential arrangements contributed significantly to the grand success of the event:
