Alaihal Media

History of Alaihal Media

Origins and Evolution

Alaihal Media, originally named Alaigal, was established in 1997 with the primary aim of training and animating youth in folk arts. This initiative led to the formation of several folk arts groups in rural centers through various training programs. Recognizing the potential of digital media, Alaigal later integrated digital media with folk arts. Their first video production, “Koothu,” exemplified this fusion, showcasing the powerful combination of traditional folk arts and modern digital media.

To enhance the reach and impact of digital media, Alaigal decentralized folk arts to rural centers, where these arts were already popular. This strategic move allowed Alaigal to rebrand itself as Alaigal Media, marking a significant shift towards embracing digital media fully.
