The seventh provincial chapter of the Salesian Province of Tiruchy (PC 2019) was held from 14 to 18 January 2019.

The Chapter had its start with the Holy Eucharist celebrated by Most Reverend Antony Devotta Bishop Emeritus. During the inaugural session Reverend SisterJanquline Mary, Superior General of the sisters of Saint Anne’s Madras, delivered the key note address, inviting the chapter members for a serious introspection and for a fruitful finding of the profile of the Salesians. Reverend Sister Amalanathan Mary Margaret, the Provincial of the Salesian sisters of Tiruchy Province and delegates from different groups of Salesian Family extended their prayers and wishes to the success of the Chapter. Reverend Father Antony Joseph, the Provincial declared open the Seventh Provincial Chapter.

The chapter in line with the General Chapter 28, had its theme as, ‘What Kind of Salesians for the youth of today?’ All the discussions and programmes were well planned and coordinated by the Moderator of the Chapter, Father A. Raj SDB. The moderator ensured, along with the serious discussion of documents, moments of celebration of togetherness were organized with party games, quiz, family circle and audio-visual presentations. The chapter consisted of 62 participants. The presence of two young people and one lay mission partner (a Salesian cooperator)added more meaning to the chapter and enriched the discussions. Father Antony Joseph the Provincial celebrated the Concluding Holy Eucharist. The Chapter ended with the Singing of ‘Te Deum’ as a moment of gratitude to the Lord for his blessings on the province.
