The Retreat Yercaud , the post-novitiate community, is in solidarity with the affected people in the Shevaroy Hills of Yercaud. The community received the news about abandoned old people in their homes without food. The community immediately sprang into action in aid of the poor. Though the gates are locked without much movements, the youth volunteers collaborate with Don Bosco and the people. The young people take turns to deliver food for the elderly. And keep a watch on starving people.

The community has started feeding around 100 elderly people who would not have anything to eat. The number of families to receive supplies, may go high considering the lockdown for next two weeks. The 21-day lockdown imposed by the Government ends on 14th April but no one is sure of the future course of action.

Despite the meagre supply of groceries, the post-novices are ready to sacrifice to feed the poorest and the helpless elderly. The community is also supporting the initiative organized by the oratory young people of spraying disinfectant and sanitizing the streets of the villages.
