Outing to Rameshwaram and Thanuskodi
On September 29th, 2024, a memorable outing was organized for 96 Catechism children and 34 youth from our parish. The group embarked on a day trip to Rameshwaram and Thanuskodi, providing them with an opportunity for both adventure and spiritual growth. The outing was a special occasion, offering the children and youth a chance to explore new places, experience nature, and learn from the community they visited.
Exploring Historical and Natural Landmarks
On the way to Rameshwaram, the group made a visit to the memorial of Dr. Abdul Kalam, where they paid their respects to the late President of India. It was a meaningful moment for the youth to learn about the life and contributions of this inspiring figure. Following this, the children and youth enjoyed a swim at Kushi Beach, many of them experiencing the sea for the first time. The day continued with admiration for the iconic Pamban Bridge, a marvel of engineering, offering breathtaking views and a sense of awe.
Hospitality at Salesian Institutions
The group also had the privilege of experiencing the warmth and hospitality of the Salesians at St. Antony’s Shrine in Vilathikulam and Don Bosco School of Excellence in Sayalkudi. The Salesian community took great care of the group, ensuring they felt welcome and comfortable. The children and youth were able to engage in meaningful interactions, further enriching their spiritual and personal growth.
Gratitude to Benefactors
The outing was a memorable experience for everyone, especially since most of the children and youth had never swum in the sea before. The parish community is deeply grateful to the benefactors whose generous financial and material contributions made this outing possible. The support from both the Parish Priest and the Assistants ensured that this dream became a reality, leaving lasting memories for all involved.
