On December 1st, 2024, 43 young members from our community participated in a half-day recollection at St. Mary’s Church in Vanji Nagar, Thenkasi, to mark the beginning of the Advent season. The day was designed to provide both spiritual renewal and physical refreshment as the youngsters prepared for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Spiritual Preparation
The recollection began at 10:15 am with an insightful talk by Rev. Fr. Mahesh, the Parish Priest belonging to the Syro-Malabar Rite of the Thuckalay Diocese. His talk was a meaningful introduction to the day, encouraging the youth to reflect on their faith and the significance of Advent. After the talk, Fr. Jose and Fr. Mahesh took time to hear the confessions of the participants, offering them the opportunity to cleanse their hearts and spiritually prepare for the season.
Community Fellowship and Refreshment
The event was concluded with a solemn lunch, served by the local youngsters and religious sisters, which further fostered a sense of community and shared faith. Afterward, the group visited the famous Kutralam waterfalls, where they enjoyed a moment of natural beauty and a refreshing immersion in the waters, strengthening their bonds with one another. On their way back, they stopped at the St. Michael’s Shrine in Thenkasi, where they spent time in prayer and reflection.
Successful Planning and Execution
The entire program, which combined spiritual reflection with physical rejuvenation, was carefully planned and executed by the local youth director, Fr. Aldon Jibose. His dedication ensured that the event was both meaningful and successful, offering the youth an opportunity for growth in both body and spirit.
