The Rural Sector Meeting was held on 17 June 2026 at Don Bosco School of Excellence, Sayalgudi, with 26 participants (20 Salesians and 6 staff). The meeting focused on reviewing rural ministry activities, strengthening youth services, and planning initiatives for 2026–2027.

An orientation session by Fr. Casimir Raj emphasized innovative approaches to youth ministry, leadership development, and empowerment of rural youth. Participants discussed current initiatives, future opportunities, and practical actions to enhance youth services in rural areas.

Key recommendations included strengthening after-care support for youth, developing effective rural youth ministry models, encouraging youth-led programs, reviving rural youth ministry, and creating measurable impact models. Representatives from various rural centres also presented their achievements, challenges, and future plans.

The Annual Plan 2026–2027 includes staff training and exposure visits, leadership programmes for students and youth leaders, Self-Help Group leaders’ training, and International Women’s Day celebrations across rural centres.

In his concluding address, Fr. Doss Kennedy appreciated the dedication of those involved in rural ministry and encouraged continued commitment to the holistic development of rural youth and communities. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks and renewed commitment to the Salesian rural mission.
