Jnanodaya Salesian Institute of Philosophy marked a proud and memorable occasion with the release of Brahmānubhava: Philosophical-Religious Ways of Experiencing God in Rāmānuja’s Viśiṣṭādvaita, the first book authored by Fr. James Sundar Raj Chidambaram, SDB, Principal and Dean of the Institute. The book was launched during the curatorium meeting held on 19 August 2026, in the presence of the members and guests gathered for the occasion.

Fr. Doss Kennedy, SDB, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Tiruchy (INT), formally released the book. The first copy was presented to Fr. Don Bosco, SDB, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Madras (INM), adding significance to the celebration.

The book explores Brahmānubhava, understood as the lived experience of knowing and encountering God, in the light of Rāmānuja’s Viśiṣṭādvaita tradition. Bringing philosophy and religious faith into dialogue, it highlights how serious reflection can deepen belief and help contemporary seekers encounter God within India’s rich, diverse, and complex cultural context.

The Jnanodaya community congratulates Fr. James Sundar on this noteworthy academic achievement and appreciates his dedicated effort in offering this valuable contribution to philosophical and theological studies.
