Fr. Agilan as the Fifth Provincial of INT Province
Fr. Agilan Sarprasadam SDB was installed as the fifth provincial of the Salesian Province of Annai Velankanni Tiruchy on 04 January 2020. The installation ceremony was held at the Mary Help of Christians Shrine, AMSAM, Trichy.
It all began with a brief meaningful moment of prayer at the cemetery of the Late Provincial, Fr. Antony Joseph. Fr. Vaclav Klement, Regional Superior of East Asia Oceania, Fr. Agilan, the Provincial Elect, the Salesians and members of the Salesian Family paid tribute to the former provincial. Rev. Fr. Maria Arokiam, the Regional Superior of South Asia, presided over the Eucharist and Rev. Fr. Vaclav Klement, Regional Superior of East Asia Oceania, preached the Homily, received the profession of faith and installed the New Provincial. Fr. Arokiaraj Mariasusai officially read out the letter of the Rector Major.
The SDB Provincial of INM, FMA Provincial of INM, and the Norbertine Provincial, along with the Former SDB Provincials of INT and INM Provinces, the Vicar-Generals of Trichy and Thanjavur dioceses, and around 120 priests, members of the Salesian family, representatives from other religious congregations, friends and well-wishers were present for the celebration.
During the Felicitation, Fr. Maria Arockiam Kanaga gave his words of blessing, highlighting the qualities of Fr. Agilan. Fr. K.M. Jose, the Salesian Provincial of INM, and Sr. Margaret, FMA Provincial of Trichy felicitated Fr. Agilan. The messages from the Mother Generals of FMA sisters and SMA sisters were read by Sr. Little Flower FMA and Sr. Jayanthi SMA respectively. Fr. Agilan, in his speech of acceptance, thanked the Rector Major and the General Council for their trust and confidence in him. He thanked the two Regionals for their presence, prayers, collaboration, support and encouragement. In line with his motto, to be committed witness of communion, Fr. Agilan invited the whole province, the Salesian family and all the collaborators to work together as one family, letting go of the differences and biases.
