On the day of World No Tobacco Day Don Bosco Anbu Illam along with Vinayaga Mission’s Sankarachariya Dental College, Salem, department of public health dentistry conducted “Free Tobacco Cessation & Dental Camp” for auto drivers & Transport employees at Central Bus stand, Salem on 31.05.2023. For this event, the Salem Don Bosco Anbu illam has obtained an order from the Department of health services, Salem.
Free Tobacco Cessation & Dental camp was Inaugurated by Dr. Aswanth Vetrivel, District Consultant, District Tobacco Cell, Salem, In the Presence of Fr. Noel Raj, Assistant Director, Don Bosco Anbu Illam, Ms. Nirmala Devi, Project Manager of CFS, Dr. Saravanan, Professor and Head, Department of Public dentistry, VMSDC, Dr. Priya Deepa Lakshmi, VMSDC, Mr. T.Vellinigiri, Caregiver, Open Shelter, Don Bosco Anbu Illam, Mr. A.Irudhaiyaraj, Outreach worker, Open Shelter, Mr. Nandha Kumar, Outreach Worker, Open shelter, Salem.
Tobacco cessation Counselling and oral screening are done for auto drivers, transport employees and the public. Tobacco awareness pamphlets were distributed to them. A total of 3 interns participated. A total of 35 benefited from the camp. The program was well appreciated under the guidance of Fr. Dr. Casmir Raj, Director, DBAI.
