Forming Educators in the Spirit of Don Bosco
A Workshop Rooted in Salesian Values
To strengthen the educational mission of the Salesian Province of Trichy, AIDBES organized a two-day Workshop on Salesian Pedagogy on 24–25 April 2026 at Don Bosco Media, Manikandam. The programme brought together 35 participants, including Salesians, teachers, past pupils, and a VDB member, creating a rich environment for learning, reflection, and collaboration. The workshop aimed at helping educators deepen their understanding of the Salesian Educative System and apply its principles effectively in today’s educational context.
Rediscovering the Preventive System
The sessions were animated by Fr. John Parankimallil SDB, Secretary of AIDBES, who served as the resource person. Through engaging presentations, practical examples, and inspiring anecdotes from the life of Don Bosco, he highlighted the enduring relevance of the three pillars of Salesian education: Reason, Religion, and Loving Kindness. Interactive group activities, discussions, and brain teasers ensured active participation and helped educators connect Salesian values with contemporary educational challenges. The workshop encouraged participants to view education not merely as instruction but as a process of accompaniment and holistic formation.
A Meaningful Learning Experience
The programme was widely appreciated for its practical approach and inspiring content. Participants gained a renewed understanding of their vocation as educators and recognized the importance of creating environments where young people feel welcomed, valued, and guided. The warm hospitality extended by the Don Bosco Media community further enriched the experience and fostered fraternity among participants.
Educating the Heart
The workshop served as a valuable opportunity to renew commitment to the Salesian mission of education. By deepening their understanding of Don Bosco’s pedagogical vision, participants returned to their institutions better equipped to form young people into responsible, faith-filled, and value-oriented citizens. The programme reaffirmed that Salesian education remains a powerful and relevant response to the needs of today’s youth.
