The Local Delegates for the Missionary Animation (LDMA) of the Salesian Province of Tiruchy came together on 21st June 2026 at Don Bosco Provincial House, Tiruchy for the first sector meeting. Rev. Fr. Joseph Palemthattel (Sunny), the Regional Delegate for the Missionary Animation (RDMA), facilitated and animated during the meeting. The animation, titled “Rethinking the Missionary Flame” emphasized the significance of Salesian Missionary Vocation, the roles of the LDMA and the way forward for creating a missionary culture. Twenty-four young priests participated in this programme with earnestness and fervour in order to nurture missionary vocation and volunteerism. This animation helped the participants to formulate lines of actions for the Southern Tamil Nadu and enabled them to take responsibility to animate the local community in a consistent and innovative manner. The participants were divided into three groups and were asked to express, through Chart Preparation, the many innovative ways to spread the missionary animation in their Local Communities.
Rev. Fr. Doss Kennedy, the Provincial, appreciated the efforts taken by the local delegates to instil the missionary spirit among the young people. While encouraging the delegates, he also invited them to shift their mission focus from self-preservation to education and evangelization of the young people who are the margins of the society. That call of the Provincial made them realize the importance of moving from one’s various attachments to the Spirit that accepts and encounters everyone beyond borders, culture, caste, group and language. The programme also included the oath taken by the delegates to be catalysts for missionary animation. Fr. Victor Antonyraj, the Vice Provincial, said the final prayer. Fr. Suresh Felix, the Provincial Delegate for Missionary Animation (PDMA), coordinated the programme.
