The Orientation Programme for Unit Leaders of INT was successfully conducted at Don Bosco Youth Village, Keeranur, for two days. A total of 30 Unit Leaders from the Trichy Zone, including 8 FMA and 22 SDB participants, attended the programme. The resource persons were Rev. Fr. James Benjamin SDB, ALT(S) – Trichy Province, Mr. S. Gunaseelan ALT(R), District Headquarters Commissioner, Chennai, and Mr. A. Gunaraj ALT(S), District Organising Commissioner, Don Bosco District Association, Chennai. The programme commenced with inspection, flag hoisting, and an inaugural session, creating an enthusiastic atmosphere for learning and leadership formation.
The first day was filled with interactive and practical sessions. Group discussions on the Important needs of Individual Schools enabled the Unit Leaders to share their experiences and challenges. A quiz on Scout and Guide Rules strengthened their knowledge of Scouting principles. Practical training included learning knots, tent pitching, games with staves, and First Aid with bandaging techniques. Participants also received hands-on guidance in creating official UIDs for the Rajya Puraskar Award. The day’s activities concluded at 10:30 PM, reflecting the participants’ dedication and active involvement.
The second day began with B.P. Exercise, Holy Mass, inspection, flag hoisting, and an official group photograph. Planning sessions focused on preparing the Year Plan for individual schools and the Trichy Zone Annual Plan. The rules and procedures for the Rajya Puraskar Award were clearly explained. Rev. Fr. James Benjamin SDB emphasized the importance of timely Unit Registration, payment of registration fees, and completion of Warrant Applications. The programme concluded with a closing session, after which the participants visited Don Bosco Farm House, Sengipatti, for recreation and fellowship. The two-day orientation ended successfully, inspiring all Unit Leaders to renew their commitment to the Scout and Guide Movement with the motto, “Scouts and Guides – Always Ready.”
