      We the Salesians of Don Bosco inspired by the preferential option of Jesus Christ for the marginalized section of the society and guided by the love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Commit ourselves to the empowerment and total liberation of the rural dalit people of Nettur Parish especially the young by giving them a social status and economical upliftment to build a society with justice, peace, equality and love.

MISSION

Don Bosco believes in upholding the cause and dignity of the emarginated Dalits and the poor of the locality and work towards their total liberation freed from the clutches of poverty and all indifferences and divisions. Don Bosco seeks to enhance and empower the rural Dalit people as well as the poor of the locality through its committed social action by bringing about awareness among the people through literacy programme and by ensuring formal, non-formal and technical education. Original purpose of the institution:

• Catechizing and Social empowerment of ‘Dalit’ people.
• To ensure formal and technical education to Children / Youth.
• To initiate drop – out prevention Programme and to ensure alternate employment for young girls engaged in Beedi rolling.

Original target group:     Poor Rural Dalit youth.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES

PARISH: Nettur Parishconsists of 11 substations. There are 558 Catholic families. There are 20 Anbiams in the Parish. Sunday Catechism is conducted in 11 sub-stations and around 280 children attend the Sunday Catechism classes. Parish has got an active unit of Divine Mercy prayer group with 25 members.Parish has got a youth group with 18 members.

YOUTH GROUPS: Local youth are formed into a group and there are 50 members on roll. Around 25 youngsters attend the parish level animations whenever organised.

SALESIAN CO-OPERATORS: There is a Salesian co-operators unit with 19 members (17 promised members and 2 Aspirants).

ADMA: The parish has got an ADMA unit with 17 members.

RC PRIMARY SCHOOLS: There are two R.C.Primary Schools, one at Nettur and another at Seethaikurichy. The parish priest is the correspondent of the school. He visits the students and staff and animates them.
